Loos & Co., Inc., manufactures and sells Pre-Stretched, Color Coded, Break Strength Certified, Seismic Wire Rope/Cable™ Bracing for use in satisfying the requirements of the Laws, Codes, Standards and Specifications for Earthquake Resistance of Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical Components and Systems.
These braces are Underwriters Laboratories Listed® for use in satisfying the requirements of NFPA-13 for all pipe sizes and are pending OSHDP Pre-Approval (California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development Fixed Equipment Anchorage Pre-Approval) for hospitals and other State regulated facilities. Further, these braces have been pre-engineered for use in satisfying the earthquake bracing of all the Model Codes and Standards for all non-structural building components and systems.
Seismic Wire Rope/Cable™ Sway Bracing Kits
Kits are available in #12 (RED), #18 (WHITE), #36 (BLUE), and #48 (YELLOW) cable sizes. Each cable kit is custom made to the length that is required on the job site.
Cable kits are available with two cables (2 way brace) or with four cables (4 way brace) completed with factory installed stake eye fittings that are permanently attached, as well as the zinc plated oval sleeves needed to swage the loose end of the cables.
Convenient cable kits save time at the job site and eliminate the need for the hand fabrication of each seismic sway brace.
As extra material, we recommend ordering a small 250 ft.spool of Seismic Wire Rope/Cable™ and a box of oval sleeves in each of the sizes used on the project. This is a very inexpensive way to continue to hold installation costs down. The pre-printed order form in the back of the Design Manual serves as a convenient reminder of the needed materials.
